One of my favorite sims in Second Life is called “Black Kite”.  It is a privately owned sim, which does have public access for shopping and photography.  The lighting is calming, which is perfect for just lounging around & daydreaming.   It’s a surreal environment, that almost reminds you of something out of a fairy tale.  The blues and greens relax you, while the bright clouds compliment the greyscale shades to provide just the right ambience of serenity.

In this blog post, I am wearing the “Penelope” dress, created by ~*Moolala*~, for the Stuff Style event, which runs until May 30th.   The bodice is princess style, and the long skirt hugs the curves in the most flattering way.   It comes with a texture HUD with nine options of blue, yellow, green, pink, purple, red, grey, white, and black.   This beautiful dress will fit the following mesh bodies:  Slink Hourglass & Physique,  Maitreya – Lara, The Mesh Project, Tonic Fine and Curvy, and Belleza (Isis and Venus).  I am wearing the Lara mesh body, by Maitreya, and the only adjustment that I needed to make on my alpha HUD was to black out the nipple area.

Sweet victory!

For those who don’t know, I battled two forms of cancer (lung and ovarian) over the last few years.  Friday, May 19th, was my last day of the battle, and I am officially cancer free!  I couldn’t be happier about the news!     Second Life is currently hosting a home and garden expo, benefiting Relay For Life, from May 19th to June 4th.   All proceeds from the products, made by many talented creators, go to help raise money for cancer research in real life.

One of the sponsors is Suzy’s Bakery, who has made many delicious treats to appease the taste buds of all!  There are:

Breast Cancer Cupcakes
Expo Chocolate Cake
Expo Strawberry Cake
Garlic Ice Cream Cone
Unicorn Cupcake

Be sure to stop by and support a great cause…and get some yummy desserts too!

Today is a truly sad day in the music world:  Chris Cornell, best known as the lead singer for the band, Soundgarden, passed away.   Being someone who grew up in the 80’s and 90’s, I became familiar with his music after Soundgarden’s album,  “Superunknown”, was released.   I was already emerged in the grunge music scene (thanks to bands like Pearl Jam, Alice In Chains, and Nirvana), but this record stuck out the most.   The growls and emotion could not be topped by many, and the songs’ topics helped connect to so many, because we could relate.  During my darkest days with depression, I would listen to Soundgarden on repeat, and I felt as though their songs were my therapy.    Chris worked with many talented musicians over the years, but my favorite has to be when he made the song “Promise” with Slash (formerly of Guns & Roses).    This part of the chorus stuck out the most:

“Promise me
You won’t let them put out your fire”

I promise, Chris.

Rest In Peace.

Ode to my mother

Today is Mother’s Day in my part of the world, and this is the first time where it’s a joyous & somber occasion.  My mom passed away in March, and while I am saddened by her sudden passing, I try to keep my depression at bay with fond memories of her loving nature, and her love of nature.  She found the beauty in so many things, that most would overlook.  Her biggest ambition was to help those who needed a voice of justice.  She was proud that I served in the military, but she was even more proud of  my sons, for overcoming every obstacle that was put in their way.    Little things like a bird singing when I am crying, or finding her favorite flavor of wine in a store, reminds me that she is never far away, even though her life on Earth has come to an end.  Her legacy will forever live on.

In this blog ,  I am wearing the “Blossom” dress, created by ~*Moolala*~, available now at the store.  With a breezy tank top and a slimming mini skirt, it’s simply adorable, and perfectly made for Summer outings.    The top and skirt both have fourteen floral patterns, and seven solid patterns, via the texture HUD, to create all sorts of beautiful combinations.      It is available in the following mesh sizes:   Fitmesh, Ebody,  Maitreya- Lara, Slink (Hourglass and Physique), and Belleza (Freya, Isis, and Venus).   I am currently wearing the one for Lara, and I didn’t need to make any adjustments with my alpha HUD.    Due to the skirt size, I would advise using the pelvic alpha options, or a panties texture.

Spaced Out

One of the most fascinating topics , in my opinion, is outer space.  There is so much that we know, and even more that we don’t know.  Our knowledge helps us understand the world around us, and our imagination explores its own questions & wonders.       The sim that I visited is called “Sagan Planetarium”, named after the late astronomer, Carl Sagan.  He constantly reminded us that there is more to the universe than what our eyes can see;  we just have to be open to the idea that somewhere out there, another life form could be wondering the same about us.

In this blog, I am wearing the “Estrella” dress, created by ~*Moolala*~, available from now until May 30th at The Darkness Event.    This cute mini dress has an out-of-this-world starry pattern, available in 7 colors on the texture HUD.   The skirt stops mid-thigh, to expose plenty of leg, and the halter top closes with a strap down the middle of your back, to show off the universal appeal of your shoulders.  This comes in 5 Fitmesh sizes, along with sizes that fit the following mesh bodies:   Belleza (Venus, Isis , and Freya), Maitreya (Lara), and Slink (Physique and Hourglass).   I am wearing the dress for “Lara”,  and I didn’t have to make any adjustments with my alpha HUD.

A fine time to dine

In real life, one of my favorite places to go to eat are what many call “Mom & Pop” diners, “Hole In The Wall” restaurants, etc.   To me, there is just something wonderfully nostalgic and comforting about them.   The prices are sometimes higher than what you would pay at a fast food restaurant, but the quality of the food more than makes up for it.   I prefer to visit them during “down times”, when most patrons have already been served during the usual dining hours.   In Second Life, you have a bit of an advantage, as more & more diners are opening up, but some are still quiet and quaint.   Em’s Cafe is no exception.  It’s just off the road in the southeast corner of the CiChild Sim, and while you may be the only one visiting at the time, it welcomes you to stay a while & take a break from your virtual adventures.   You can enjoy a chat with friends, have a cup of coffee, go online, write a letter, or even shop for the cutest decor inside the Yard Sale.  It’s truly a treasure, and not to be overlooked.

In this blog post, I am wearing the “Oceana” dress by Aurora’s Closet.   A light and breezy design is perfect for Spring, and the buckles on either side of the torso are cute & sassy.  The skirt part of the dress flares out, but not so much that you have to make a lot of adjustments while seated.   It comes with a texture HUD, with 8 beautiful pastel colors (I am wearing the green/teal).    It will fit most avatars, due to it including the following mesh fits:  Classic & Fitmess (alpha layer included), The Mesh Project, Ebody, Maitreya, Tonic (Fine & Curvy), Slink (Physique & Hourglass), and Belleza (Isis, Freya, and Venus).   It is currently on sale on Marketplace for 239L (link is below).

Happy anniversary!

Today is my one year anniversary with WordPress!   Even though I have had to take a lot of break from blogging over the past 12  months, I have thoroughly enjoyed creating posts about some of my favorite stores in Second Life.  It gives me a chance to work out a new look for my avatar, as well as discover beautiful & intriguing sims that I always want to revisit.  Thank you , dear readers, for all of your help & support!
